About Us
Ms Onu was born in Bucharest, Romania and moved to the United States in the 1980s.
She attended Willamette University in Salem, Oregon and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and
Spanish. She obtained her juris doctorate from the George Washington University in Washington, DC.
Ms. Onu began her legal career in 1998 in Oregon, and is a former member of the Oregon State Bar. She
moved to Washington and was admitted to the Washington State Bar in 2004. She is a member of the King
County Bar Association, the East King County Bar Association, where she chairs the family law section, the
Washington Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and the Washington Defenders Association.
Ms. Onu has practiced in various areas such as criminal defense (at both the misdemeanor and felony level),
family law, immigration and personal injury. She currently limits her practice to misdemeanor criminal
defense and family law. She accepts cases in the Superior Courts, District Courts and Municipal Courts in
King and Snohomish counties.
Ms. Onu has extensive litigation experience, having represented clients in pre-trials, motions, trials and
administrative hearings in both criminal and family law cases. She has obtained acquittals and substantial
reduction of charges for clients facing criminal charges in both Oregon and Washington. She has helped
numerous clients with various domestic relations matters. She believes that while negotiation and
collaboration are important, the key to success in both criminal and family law cases is a willingness and
ability to aggressively litigate when the situation warrants it.
Ms. Onu was inspired to attend law school after her own experience as a young child living under a
totalitarian regime with few personal rights and liberties. She strives to keep her fees reasonable because
of her belief that everyone deserves a zealous and aggressive advocate to protect their rights.
